The last time I wrote a post was in January talking about how I was planning on sleeping better and just overall New Years Resolutions. To update you all...I was doing better about sleep, but it continues to be something that I have to still work on everyday.
Now it's August and with back to school season usually comes new resolutions all in their own right; kids focusing on doing better this year than last, moms swearing they'll make every game, and meeting, and team dinner etc..
This August I am focused on steps. Working from home with a desk job, I don't tend to get the amount of steps that healthy people are supposed to. In full transparency, my average daily step count lives around the 4,000 with some days being complete outliers around 9-10,000 steps but most days actually sitting around 3,000. So as a small goal, rather than immediately jumping up to that 10,000 steps/day goal, I am going to start with 6,000. Six thousand steps every day. For those not good at math, that is doubling my steps every day. I think that is a good start. August is where I will form new habits, continuing to work on sleep and nutrition.. adding in steps. The goal being a happier healthier me that will get me through the cold New York winter rather than giving me seasonal depression because I can't see the sun.
On another note, I have a new friend and she and I have been adventuring to all kinds of new events. Just last weekend we went to a War of 1812 Reenactment, and next weekend we plan on dressing up with masses for the annual Pirate Festival! It has been an exciting summer and I hope that next summer we will have lots of fun trying even more new things. There is always something going on here and I have been having so much fun discovering the northern parts of New York state.
I can't wait to see what Autumn brings! Happy August!
